Faith@First - March 7, 2025
Lent is a season of deep reflection, a journey through the wilderness of suffering that leads to the promise of resurrection. It is a time when we remember Christ’s sacrifice, walking with Him through the valley of sorrow, but also keeping our eyes fixed on the dawn of Easter morning. Between the weight of the cross and the empty tomb lies a sacred space—a chasm between suffering and joy, between death and new life.
This Sunday, we invite you to step into that space, where pain and praise meet in harmony. As we begin this Lenten season together, we will lift our voices in the first of many African American spirituals, songs born from struggle yet filled with hope. These spirituals, remind us that even in suffering, the Spirit moves, strengthens, heals and empowers. We will sing, “Every Time I Feel the Spirit (enjoy this preview of the choir, practicing)”, a song of prayer and perseverance, a reminder that God is present in every trial and triumph.
As we take this journey, we invite you to consider, where do you feel and hear the Spirit? How do you move through difficult seasons of suffering with the promise of joy and resurrection? How can you share that hope with others? Come ready to worship. Come ready to listen. Come ready to clap! Let the Spirit move in you as we sing, pray, and journey together. The road through Lent is not easy, but we do not walk it alone. The Spirit is here, stirring, guiding, and calling us forward.
And remember to set your clocks back, daylight savings day is Saturday evening, and I wouldn’t want you to miss what I know will be a joy filled time of worship.
Keep the faith @ First and I’ll see you Sunday,
Pastor Nicole
