Dear Noblesville First Family,

This Sunday, we continue our series All Creatures Great and Small as we reflect on God’s call for us to be good stewards of the earth—and all the creatures who share it with us.

This theme reminded me that earlier this year, my children launched a full-scale campaign to convince me we needed a cat. Never mind that we already have a perfectly wonderful dog (and one they have to be begged to walk, at that!). Apparently, our household was "missing" a cat. They had it all planned out: coordinating outfits imagined, toys selected and even names picked.

But this was all before we talked about the litter box.

Suddenly, the room got very quiet. Eyes shifted. One child even suggested that maybe the cat could be “trained” to take care of that part itself. It became clear very quickly: everyone wanted the cat, but no one wanted the responsibility of caring for it.

And that, friends, is where stewardship comes in.

Stewardship isn’t just about having something—it’s about caring for it, even when it’s messy, inconvenient, or less exciting than we imagined. In Genesis, God entrusts creation to us, not so we can simply enjoy it, but so we can tend it with love and responsibility.

As we continue this series, we’ll explore what it means to truly care for the creation God has placed in our hands. And don’t forget that you can keep growing and learning about creation care in the weekly bible study led by Pastor Amber, Thursday nights this month in the Parlor at 6:30.

She will expand on the theological ideas shared on Sunday morning with practical ways to live out our care for creation together. You’ll also find many other ways to be a good steward through service this Sunday as our missions committee hosts our mission fair. There will be tables full of information and ways that you can get involved!

I pray I’ll see you Sunday and that we may continue caring for one another and all creatures great and small.

Keep the Faith@First,
Pastor Nicole

P.S. Enjoy my favorite picture of our Dog, Nina Simone also known as, “the only pet my kids will EVER have.”
