Faith @ First - August 28, 2026
If you’ve ever played Jenga, you know how it goes.
At first, it’s fun. You carefully pull out one block at a time, trying not to disturb the tower. You laugh. You strategize. You convince yourself you’ve got everything under control.
Until suddenly—you don’t.
One block moves, the whole thing shifts, and everything comes crashing down.
This week, we’ve felt some of that in our community as we’ve watched neighborhoods buckle under the weight of record flooding. Homes have been damaged. Families have been displaced. In a matter of hours, what once felt stable was turned upside down.
But thanks be to God, that is not the whole story.
Because we’ve also witnessed what happens when things fall apart: the Church steps in.
The picture above captures just one glimpse of that story. Volunteers from Noblesville First, Emmanuel United Methodist, and Fishers United Methodist came together to be the hands and feet of Jesus, tearing out drywall, pulling out cabinets, hauling debris, and helping families begin the long work of rebuilding.
And they’re not alone.
Our "Dinner's On Us" leaders, United Women of Faith and Lunch Bunch Superstars teams have all committed to providing weekly dinners. Others have donated clothing, household items, financial resources, meals, time, and prayers. So many different churches, organizations, neighbors, and strangers have come together to remind people that they do not have to rebuild alone.
Maybe that’s the lesson we’re learning right now: things can fall apart. But with God and one another, things can also be rebuilt.
This Sunday, we’ll continue our Twists & Turns series as we reflect on the game of Jenga, what happens when life comes crashing down, and the goodness of the God who meets us in the rubble and helps us rebuild.
