Faith @ First - August 29, 2025

Dear Noblesville First Family,

I was at Costco, watching someone struggle to push a cart that clearly had a bad wheel. You know the kind—it squeaks, wobbles, and keeps pulling hard to the left. Instead of switching carts, they wrestled it all the way through the store! I couldn’t help but smile and think, “That’s me sometimes—fighting with something I should have let go of a long time ago.”

If we think about it, that doesn’t just apply to food shopping but to faith. We cling to situations and to people we love, believing if we just push harder, we can straighten things out. We try to carry their worries, fix their problems, and even take responsibility for their walk with God. But the truth is, there comes a point when we can no longer hold on—we must release them into the hands of Jesus.

And here’s the good news: when we release, we’re not letting go into nothingness—we’re entrusting our loved ones to the God who “knows the very hairs of our head are numbered” (Luke 12:7). If God cares so deeply for sparrows, how much more can we trust Jesus with the people we love most?

This act of release is not defeat—it’s discipleship. It’s trusting the ones we love most with the One we know loves us most of all. This Sunday, as we close out our Who’s Your Four series, this is the final call: to be the one who releases. We’ve talked about inviting, interceding, and noticing others. We’ve talked about what we must do, how we must act—but now, we open our hands in surrender. I hope you’ll join us this Sunday at our last outdoor service at Teter at 9:00 or online/in the sanctuary at 10:30. But most of all, I hope you will release.

Keep the Faith at First,
Pastor Nicole
