I’m not sure who said it, but I once heard it said that ‘if you wonder what God’s love looks like, then look at your mother.’”
There’s something deeply powerful in that statement. A mother’s love is often the first expression of care we experience—sacrificial, tender, protective, and enduring. It’s in the way she holds us when we’re afraid, in the quiet prayers she lifts when we’re asleep, and in the relentless hope she carries for us, even when we stumble.
This Sunday, as we celebrate Mother’s Day, let us take a moment to thank God for the mothers, grandmothers, and maternal figures who have shaped our lives. But even more, let us use their love as a window into something even greater: the love of God.
God’s love is the source from which all true love flows. It is more patient than we can comprehend, more forgiving than we deserve, and more faithful than we can imagine. Just as a mother never gives up on her child, God never gives up on us. In Isaiah 66:13, God says, “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.” That is the kind of love that heals, restores, and brings peace.
We invite you to come and worship with us this Sunday morning. Whether you are celebrating a beloved mother, grieving a loss, or longing for healing, there is space for you. Come and be reminded not only of the love of mothers, but of the unshakable, unconditional love of our God.
