A few weeks ago, many of you gathered for our Hymn Sing in honor of the Chimbanda Scholarship Fund, lifting your voices in worship and gratitude. But you didn’t just come to sing—you came to give. Together, the group raised over $6,700 to support Angolan students whose lives will be forever changed because of your generosity that day. It was a beautiful reminder that gratitude is most powerful when it moves beyond what we say (or sing) and becomes something we do—a living expression of God’s love at work through people. As James reminds us, “I will show you my faith by what I do” (James 2:18). Gratitude, like faith, is most authentic when it takes action.

This Sunday, as we enter the week of Thanksgiving, I’ll be preaching on this very theme—how gratitude is more than words, but Hands and Feet in motion. I’d love for you to join us and begin considering even now: How might you put your gratitude into action this week? Whom can you bless? How can you show appreciation in a way that reflects God’s goodness?

And as we turn our hearts toward this posture of active thanksgiving, I want to extend a special invitation for Giving Tuesday, on December 2nd. Generous members of our church have committed to matching gifts given. Your generosity can be doubled, allowing us to continue being the hands and feet of Christ in tangible, life-changing ways. You may plan to give on December 2nd, or you’re welcome to share your gift even now HERE and press Giving Tuesday from the drop down menu. We pray that you might join us in this effort, helping us extend hope, compassion, and Christ’s love even further into our community.

May our thankfulness not only be spoken—but seen through our action.

Keep the Faith@First,
Pastor Nicole
