Dear Noblesville First Family,
When our oldest child Joshua was four years old he only answered to the name Spider Man. He wore this costume at his 4th birthday party, to preschool, to the grocery store and yes-even church. I once found myself unsuccessfully negotiating with him to take it off while we were in church-but I only got him to agree the mask. The thought of not being able to adequately much on donuts through it, finally won him over.
Now looking back, I can’t help but wonder why costumes bring such joy to our lives when we’re young. We relish in the opportunity to imagine that we have superpowers, super strength or are princesses or pirates living a dream. But, as we age we often lose that sense of wonder and joy. We reconcile the lives we dreamed of with what can seem like a bitter reality.
But what if there’s more? What if being clothed in our faith gives us real super natural power that isn’t make believe? But is made real when we believe in Jesus?
This Sunday, we invite you to put on your costumes and to reflect on this theme in our annual Imagination Sunday worship. If capes and crowns aren’t your thing- wear your church t-shirt as we enjoy special music, worship and later our Halloween Village from 5-7p.m.
However you come, come as you are and Keep the Faith @First,
Pastor Nicole
