A couple of weeks ago we asked you what was your favorite song or hymn of the church and you shared some longtime favorites like: Great is Thy Faithfulness, Amazing Grace, or He Lives. But one of my favorite church songs is “God is Trying to Tell You Something.” If you’ve ever seen The Color Purple (not the recent one, but the 80s version) then you’ve seen this song sung at its absolute best. And don’t worry, I’m not going to insult or assault you by attempting to sing it!
But every time I hear that song, it’s a reminder that God is constantly communicating with us. God is constantly speaking through creation, through other people, through the Word, and sending us messages of grace, hope, love, and faith.
Over the last several months our leadership, both clergy and laity, have been working together to figure out how we can tell our community about a God who loves them and embraces them with no exceptions. And this Sunday we are so excited to share where that has led us and to reveal our brand new church logo, website and some other exciting details.
We hope you’ll join us in both services so you can take a first look at what God is trying to tell our community through Noblesville First United Methodist Church. And be on the lookout all week long for the ways in which God is trying to tell you something. Maybe it’s the rainfall this morning where God is trying to tell you that as you walk through waters, I will be with you. Maybe it’s the sunlight peeking through where you’re reminded that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
Whatever it is, keep the faith and know that God is always trying to tell us something. I’ll see you Sunday!
