Love in Action
John Wesley famously declared, “The world is my parish.” As United Methodists, we believe those words still call us to action. Our faith does not stop at the doors of the church. Jesus calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves—especially when our neighbors are hurting.
Right now, many of our neighbors throughout Hamilton County and communities across Indiana are recovering from the devastating effects of historic flooding. Families have been displaced. Homes and belongings have been damaged or lost. And while the floodwaters will eventually recede, the work of recovery will continue long after they do.
We believe this is a moment for the Church to be the Church. Through Neighbor to Neighbor Disaster Relief, we are coming together as United Methodists to provide financial resources for both immediate needs and long-term recovery. Our goal is simple: when one neighbor is hurting, another neighbor reaches out a hand.
Because our neighbors aren't strangers.
They are the family down the street.
The teacher from our grandchild's school.
The person standing beside us at the grocery store.
The family worshiping across town.
They are us.
Let's respond the way Jesus taught us—with open hearts and open hands.
Neighbor to neighbor. Church to community. Love put into action.
